Below is a rundown of the Featured Leaders we published in 2022, their experiences, and the lessons you can learn from them.
Danni Hudson, Group Client Lead Manager at Snap Inc, talked about social media’s role in today’s communications, particularly in the government. Danni also shared her philosophy on content strategies she comes up with to influence behaviour change.
Jenelle McMinn of Hobsons Bay City Council revealed her organisation’s secret to maximising reach through a communications strategy complemented by social media. Jenelle further shared their programs that have succeeded through this strategy.
Nicki Drinkwater, General Manager for Media & External Communications at NBN, shared effective ways of gaining and maintaining the public’s trust. Nicki also provided safeguarding practices for consistent and accurate messaging.
Award-winning marketer Antonia Vann, General Manager for Marketing and Communications at Museums Victoria, talked about the intricacies of corporate communications today. Antonia shared her best marketing practices and advice on shaping a brand people trust.
Almora Boucher, Manager Digital and Campaigns for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA, imparted her knowledge on crisis communications. Almora also explained the best way to create a personable image to connect better with the intended audience.
Lauren Smallwood, a Partner Manager at Meta, helped us better understand innovations by the social media giant to get the most out of its platforms. Lauren also talks about the common problems she helps to resolve for her clients.
Kate Davies, Head of Communications and Corporate Strategy at Lake Macquarie City Council, discussed how she and her organisation keeps up with the fast-paced digital world. Kate further went on to discuss staying on top of misinformation, the importance of quick and effective responses on social media and engaging effectively beyond being social.
CSIRO Editorial and Content Manager Summer Goodwin delineated between strategy experimentation and content consistency. Summer also told us how the strategy she shared here, along with the other tactics they do in CSIRO, has helped the organisation lodge an 82% growth over the last three years, from 424,000 to 772,000 people following its channels.
Mariah Fox, Social Media Manager – Assistant Director at the NDIA, talked about the generalist approach to content creation and why it should be the norm. Mariah also shared a social media feature that she thinks would greatly benefit social media professionals of today, based on her more than eight years of professional experience in social media.
A lot has changed in the landscape of communications ever since the pandemic, and the ideas that our featured leaders shared have helped eased the way in responding to the increased and new demands to communication professionals
