Bard, an AI rival to ChatGPT, is accessible for free in over 180 countries.
Bard, now known as Gemini, demonstrates that Google is committed to improving its AI and competing with ChatGPT and other major players, which is enormously significant in the AI field.
Visual replies to inquiries, compatibility for Japanese and Korean, and connection with other Google services are among the new enhancements to Google Bard.
Powered by Google’s new PaLM 2, Bard boasts advanced math and reasoning skills, along with improved coding capabilities. These upgrades replace the previous LaMDA AI model, enhancing Bard’s overall performance.
A notable feature of Bard is its integration with Google Lens, allowing users to include photos in their prompts.
Additionally, software developers can now export code generated by Bard to platforms like Colab or Replit, with the added benefit of citations for any borrowed code.

Bard also introduces a dark theme, which received enthusiastic applause at the Google I/O keynote. Moreover, Google plans to add extensions to Bard, enabling it to access external resources. For example, an Adobe Firefly extension allows Bard to generate images, like unicorns for a birthday party, enhancing its creative capabilities.
Google is collaborating with service providers such as Kayak, OpenTable, ZipRecruiter, Instacart, Wolfram, and Khan Academy to expand Bard’s functionality.
The tech giant also aims to integrate features from its existing apps like Docs, Drive, Gmail, and Maps into Bard, streamlining user experience.
Users can now export Bard’s responses directly to Gmail or Docs, facilitating quicker drafting of emails and documents.
Although Bard is available in 180 countries, it is currently not accessible in Canada and much of Europe. However, Google plans to expand access soon.
As the AI race intensifies, Bard’s real-time internet search capabilities, voice input support, and other unique features set it apart from ChatGPT.
Bard can generate multiple drafts of responses, summarise web pages, explain documents, and even plan trips, providing users with up-to-date and comprehensive information.
Though it is still a major player, ChatGPT is up against some formidable competition in the form of Bard and other new AI models.
These developments hold great potential for revolutionising our relationship with AI by providing smarter, more organic solutions.
With each passing day, ChatGPT and Bard will continue to test the limits of AI’s capabilities and transform our everyday interactions with technology as a result of their fierce rivalry.
