CBA appoints new executive general manager of corporate affairs

Commonwealth Bank (CBA) has appointed Kylie Smith as the Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs, commencing March 7.

Smith brings more than 25 years’ experience in corporate affairs, marketing and communications in Australian financial services.

Before joing CBA, she was Group Executive Communications, Digital and Marketing for MLC Wealth at National Australia Bank, where she was responsible for corporate affairs, marketing, communications, digital, product disclosure and customer complaints.

This followed her role as Group Executive Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Perpetual Limited and earlier senior leadership positions in corporate affairs at Westpac and BT Financial Group.

The announcement follows the recent appointment of Jo Boundy as the bank’s new Chief Marketing Officer. Boundy will begin her new role on March 28.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming Kylie and Jo to CommBank’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Leadership team,” said Monique Macleod, Group Executive of CBA.

“Both Kylie and Jo are very well respected leaders, who will bring a depth of strategic thinking, creativity, and a proven track record of delivery to our team,” Macleod said.

On Boundy’s earlier appointment, Macleod said she was pleased to be able to welcome someone as experienced and well revered across the industry as Boundy.

“I’m thrilled we have been able to attract a person of Jo’s talent to be our next Chief Marketing Officer,” Macleod said.

“Jo has more than 20 years global experience, having led marketing, customer, communication, digital and entertainment teams at a number of large commercial organisations including Optus, British Telecom, Google and, of course, Qantas, from where she joins us and played a key part in the group’s brand and marketing strategies,” she said.

Early last year, Boundy was recognised by CMO Australia and CMO50 as the number one CMO in 2021.

“I am delighted we will benefit from her broad range of experience and capabilities, as well as her energy and enthusiasm,” Macleod said.
