Driving a strategic communications strategy with Alistair Marshall

Alistair Marshall on crafting a communications strategy

A proper communications strategy is the hallmark of an organisation that excels in engaging both internal stakeholders and external audiences.

In this video, communications leader Alistair Marshall talks about crafting a strategic communications strategy that produces results and engages your stakeholders. Then the Head of Internal Communication at Coles, Alistair uses his experience in that company to illustrate what a good communications strategy looks like.

Alistair stresses that communications strategies should be dynamic and ever-evolving. They are products of ongoing conversations that stem from fulfilling the primary purpose of informing your stakeholders.

“If you want to talk about strategy, you really need to know strategically what it is that you’re there to do. For me, it’s those four things: it’s about informing team members, it’s about providing that wider organisational narrative, it’s about helping people feel proud of that organisation and advocating for it, and it’s about providing a listening framework,” Alistair said.
