Motorola Solutions Unveils Cutting-Edge R&D Centre in Vietnam

A new Research and Development Centre for Motorola Solutions has opened in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

This centre’s objective is to advance data analytics and AI-enabled technologies, strengthening the company’s safety and security ecosystem. The opening marks a significant moment in expanding Motorola Solutions’ software engineering talent in the Asia-Pacific region.

Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Motorola Solutions Mahesh Saptharishi emphasised the centre’s importance. “One of the most crucial challenges facing public safety agencies today is the vast amounts of data that can stand between those in need and those who can help,” he said.

“Our innovation is focused on surfacing and centralising critical insights from across public safety systems, so that first responders can better understand and respond to complex threats, helping to keep communities safer.”

The Vietnam team will focus on designing solutions that dramatically improve public safety outcomes. They will leverage AI to develop advanced camera systems, sensors, and vehicle detection technologies by connecting people to critical information and focusing human attention where it’s needed most. These innovations will feed into command centres, enhancing decision-making and accelerating emergency response.

“Especially in times of crisis, people need technology that helps them to focus on the most relevant information needed to fulfil their mission while removing other distractions,” Saptharishi added.

“Data analytics and AI play an important role in this process, rapidly and accurately analysing data to alert a human when something important happens for further investigation.”

The new centre highlights Motorola Solutions’ continued investment in diverse, multicultural engineering talent across the Asia-Pacific region. Other key locations include Penang, Bangalore, and Kolkata.

Director and Chief Scientist of the Motorola Solutions Vietnam Research and Development Centre Dr Dinh Tien Son noted, “Our team brings different experiences and perspectives, adding to the diversity that advances creative innovations in our global R&D organisation.”

“We’re developing meaningful solutions to solve complex challenges, and our work will continue to extend its positive, real-world impact worldwide.”

The Ho Chi Minh City hub of Motorola Solutions is evidence of their dedication to public safety technology innovation and excellence. By bolstering their global R&D capabilities, this investment guarantees that communities across the globe will have access to state-of-the-art solutions that prioritise their safety.
