Rapid Response Revival: A Game-Changer in Personal Defibrillators for Australian Made Week

In celebration of Australian Made Week, Rapid Response Revival®, the creator of the world’s first personal automated external defibrillator (AED), CellAED, shares its remarkable journey from start-up to industry leader.

Donovan Casey established Rapid Response Revival in the aftermath of his partner Sarah’s unexpected cardiac arrest at home. Given the worldwide mortality rate for sudden cardiac arrest, which is less than 1%, Sarah’s survival was nothing short of miraculous.

When paramedics told Casey that his swift response had saved Sarah’s life, he was struck with the horrible thought of what could have happened if he hadn’t done anything.

After this transformative and profound experience, Casey became resolute in his mission to enhance the chances of survival for the 30,000 Australians and millions more globally who encounter sudden cardiac arrest annually.

Given the fact that 80% of these incidents transpire within the confines of one’s residence, Casey undertook an endeavor to develop a cost-effective, compact personal defibrillator that could be relied on by any individual. This objective serves as the impetus for the development of CellAED.

Casey’s vision is clear: to place a CellAED in every home, workplace, and community, making life-saving technology accessible to all.

“The holy grail would be to receive a phone call telling us that a child has saved a parent’s life. That they recognised the symptoms, called Triple Zero (000), gave the right address, and grabbed a CellAED, knowing what it was and how to use it. That’s what I am waiting for,” said Casey.

Proudly Australian made and owned, Rapid Response Revival boasts a team of highly skilled professionals across various fields who have brought this disruptive technology to life.

“Typically, it takes 12 years from certification to commercialise a medical device, and we’ve done it in half the time and for a quarter of the price,” he added.

Currently, the company produces 1,000 CellAED devices each month, with plans to scale up to 10,000 monthly. This production capacity supports both Australian initiatives and global market expansion.

Each CellAED is meticulously handcrafted in their Sydney facility, ensuring top-notch quality. CellAED also supports local jobs and contributes to the Australian economy.

Rapid Response Revival’s journey exemplifies the power of innovation and the impact of Australian ingenuity on a global scale. As they continue to expand, the goal remains to save lives and make cutting-edge technology accessible to everyone.
