Use of shortform content, AI tools on the rise with businesses, study finds

shortform content a hit with businesses

Despite recent economic challenges, businesses are quickly latching on to using shortform videos and AI tools to achieve their goals, according to a report released by freelancer marketplace Fiverr.

Titled the Spring 2023 Business Trends Index, Fiverr’s study condensed a collection of trending searches for services on its platform. After collating and categorising millions of searches, Fiverr saw hefty increases in searches for freelancers who specialised in creating shortform content during the last six months.

Searches for “Youtube Shorts Video” increased to 64,624%, “Instagram Reel Editor” saw an uptick of 4,760%, and “TikTok manager” searches were at 1,445%, the study found.

“The index data shows business leaders and marketers are investing more in this channel and similar platforms, taking advantage of the ad potential and exposure of short-form video. Given the dramatic growth in popularity of YouTube Shorts specifically, searches for “YouTube Influencer” alone increased by 145%,” Fiverr said in a media statement.

Meanwhile, businesses have also shown awareness of the opportunities to advance their services through artificial intelligence. With the release of ChatGPT, and Midjourney, businesses are eager to leverage the emerging technologies for their benefit.

Searches for “AI Art” were up at 6,967%, “AI” at 1,088%, and “Artificial Intelligence” at 56%.

Fiverr CEO Hila Klen said the findings show that businesses are willing to explore new technology and advanced tools despite confronting the challenges of an unstable economy.

“The data we uncovered underscores their willingness to embrace nascent platforms, such as generative AI tools, and explore new strategies to keep their organizations competitive. It also reveals the key role freelancers play in providing business leaders with the skills and external expertise they need to quickly integrate these platforms and re-strategize, helping organizations of all sizes grow and evolve,” Klein said.
