The Queensland Government is delivering a new vaccination campaign that will encourage more Queenslanders to get vaccinated with the message:
“For the love of family, friends and time together, of brunches and long lunches, and travel and adventure – get the COVID-19 vaccine.”
The “for the love of” campaign was made to remind the state’s citizens that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect themselves.
The message also encourages vaccination by emphasizing the possibility of spending time with loved ones, doing the activities people want, and working to return to the previous way of life.
Deputy Premier Steven Miles said that thanks to the way Queenslanders have responded to the pandemic, they enjoy more freedoms than other states. However, he believes that vaccination is vital to preserving Queensland’s way of life.
“As we get more vaccines from the Commonwealth, advertising is an important tool to get that message out there,” The Deputy Premier said.
“This campaign will motivate even more people to do the right thing, come forward and get vaccinated.”
The vaccination campaign was filmed in locations across Queensland such as Ballandean, Toowoomba, Boonah, Brisbane, Cairns, Innisfail and Port Douglas.
It will run across multiple channels including TV, radio, social media, online and digital posters from this Saturday, 25 September.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said she hoped the campaign would encourage people who may be on the fence about getting the COVID-19 vaccine to come forward and get vaccinated.
“We’ve already seen great uptake of the vaccine across the state, with more than 63 per cent of eligible Queenslanders aged 16 and over having received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 44 per cent are now fully vaccinated,” she said.
“The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and is the best way to protect against severe illness from COVID-19. The Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines have all gone through trials and tests as they were developed and approved for use. No testing phase has been skipped.”
With the Delta variant still present throughout Australia’s population, the Queensland Government is doing their best to speed up vaccinations for all ages.
Citizens aged 12 and over are now eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine at any Queensland Health vaccination location and participating GPs. Likewise, the Moderna vaccine and the AstraZeneca vaccine are also now available.
Minister D’Ath said that vaccination was a critical step in working towards a pathway out of the pandemic.
“We can’t live with restrictions forever – we want to make plans, spend time with all our family and friends across Australia and overseas, go on road trips and travel overseas,” she said.
“But we can’t do this unless people come forward to get vaccinated.”
