OPTUS, TPG Telecom, Telstra, Aussie Broadband, Vocus Group, More, and Tangerine are the six main telecommunications companies in the country that have issued Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Action Plans.
With the assistance of TTF, these strategies were formulated over a period of two years with the aim of fortifying support networks across the industry and mitigating instances of misconduct.
Chief Executive Officer of the Telco Together Foundation, Kristy Kelly, emphasised the vital importance of mobile devices and services for victims of domestic violence.
She underscored the significance of privacy protections and access to services for those in need, and she identified telecommunications corporations as a crucial point of contact for abuse victims.

The DFV Action Plans are built on the Domestic and Family Violence Action Framework, established with key stakeholders.
Telecommunications companies will possess enhanced capabilities to aid survivors and victims of domestic and family violence (DFV) by implementing this comprehensive approach.
Optimistic about the excellent consequences these efforts would bring for communities in need, Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland MP praised the telco industry’s transparent action in aiding disadvantaged consumers.
The eSafety Commissioner of Australia, Julie Inman Grant, has praised the Telco Together Foundation for taking the lead in combating cyber-based forms of intimate partner and family abuse.
Because of the special role that technology plays in maintaining abuse, she commended the DFV Action Plans for encouraging preventative, person-centered, and comprehensive responses.
All Australians will soon live in a safer and more supportive environment because of the combined efforts of these telecoms. Their dedication to ending domestic abuse is an example of how good social change can be achieved when people work together.
Coming at a time when the country is struggling to understand and address this difficult issue, the unified front of the telecommunications sector in Australia delivers a powerful message: we can stop domestic violence once and for all.
