Australia’s Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) is getting an upgrade under a partnership with Ventia Services Group Limited which won a contract to support Babcock Australasia.
As one of the biggest providers of key infrastructure services in Australia and New Zealand, Ventia has been involved with the Australian Defence Force for more than 30 years.
The company also has more than 25 years of telecommunications experience in Australia.
With the new technology, the Australian and partner military forces will be able to securely communicate using voice and data from practically anywhere in the world as part of the JP9101 – Enhanced DHFCS initiative.
Ventia’s Group Executive for Telecommunications, Mark Ralston, expressed his company’s happiness to be collaborating with Babcock on this crucial Defense project.

Meanwhile, Brad Yelland, the managing director of Babcock’s Mission and Support Systems division, expressed his admiration for Ventia’s abilities and track record in handling significant telecommunications and defence projects.
“Ventia will play a significant part in the delivery of the EDHFCS program to the Australian Defence Force. It was important that we selected a local partner that had the technical know-how and proven experience in delivery,” Yelland said.
We look forward to partnering with Ventia on this program of national significance.”
Starting this month, the contract with a five-year value of almost $64 million will be in effect.
The scope of work for Ventia includes inside shelter work, groundwork, the installation of new antennae and other contractor-supplied equipment.
