Google has announced that it will make their chatbot technology available to the general public in near future in response to the popularity of ChatGPT, a Microsoft-backed artificial intelligence chatbot launched in November 2022 and has since become a global hit.
ChatGPT has already reached 100 million users, according to analysts who describe the growth as unprecedented.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said the field of artificial intelligence application has reached an “inflection point,” and the organisation was “extremely well positioned.”
Pichai mentioned two so-called big language models created by the business, LaMDA (language model for dialogue applications) and PaLM, with the former scheduled for release soon.
Last week, CNBC reported that Google had started testing Apprentice Bard, a LaMDA-based AI chatbot that is comparable to ChatGPT.
ChatGPT is a form of generative AI, a technology that can generate content from a brief text prompt after being trained on massive volumes of text and visual data.
The Guardian also reported that Pichai told Alphabet investors in a conference call that they’ll be making these language models available, “starting with LaMDA so that people can engage directly with them.”

Indicating the integration of the chatbot technology into Google, Pichai said, “Very soon, people will be able to interact directly with our newest, most powerful language models as a companion to search in experimental and innovative ways.”
He also highlighted the accomplishments of DeepMind, an AI division of Alphabet based in the UK.
“All 200m proteins known to science have been used by 1 million biologists around the world,” Pichai said.
Microsoft is incorporating ChatGPT into its products, and has already released a premium edition of its Teams communications tool that includes AI-powered extras like automatically created meeting notes.
The Bing search engine from Microsoft is also anticipated to use artificial intelligence models from OpenAI, ChatGPT’s parent.
