Instagram claims to be investigating a problem that have locked out a sizable number of users of the social media platform even causing loss of followers to some.
While others were still able to scroll through their feeds, several users claimed to have seen a notification saying they were locked out.
Some Twitter users also claimed they had been totally cut off.
Other users claimed that, as a result of such accounts being locked, their following decreased.

Around 11.30 p.m. on Monday AEDT, a spike in complaints from users who had their accounts locked started to appear.
Whether the social media site had been hacked or if the issue was internal, it was unclear.
A spokesperson for Meta said, “We are aware that some Instagram users in different parts of the world are having issues accessing their Instagram accounts,” .
“We’re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and apologise for the inconvenience.”
Social media networks were inundated with complaints from users until Instagram admitted the problem on Twitter.
The tweet has been shared more than 40,000 times with 14,000 replies within a few hours.
