Murrumbateman receives network upgrade under connectivity program

The completion of projects carried out under the Regional Connectivity Program of the Australian Government will bring network upgrade to the community of Murrumbateman.

In addition to enhancing citizens’ access to healthcare and educational services, the initiative will allow several wineries to adopt cutting-edge agricultural and commercial technologies.

Along with funding from BullRoarer Networks Pty Ltd, the Australian Government has provided $150,000 to the Murrumbateman Fixed Wireless Network project.

On the eastern side of Murrumbateman, BullRoarer Networks Pty Ltd has set up a fixed wireless broadband and VoIP network through the Regional Connectivity Program.

The project was carried out as part of the program’s first round, which allocated $117 million for 130 projects throughout Australia.

The program funds the delivery of ‘place-based’ telecommunications infrastructure projects to improve digital connectivity across regional, rural and remote Australia.

Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland stressed that regional and rural communities like Murrumbatemen deserve first-class communications infrastructure.

“The Australian Government’s Better Connectivity for Rural and Regional Australia Plan will help support regional Australians to be better connected, take advantage of technological developments and remain globally competitive,” said Rowland.

Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories Kristy McBain also noted how crucial it is for local communities to remain connected throughout the pandemic.

McBain said, “Programs such as this provide important, improved communications services to Murrumbateman, giving families and businesses better mobile phone service and broadband.

“These improvements will make it easier for businesses stay connected with customers and stakeholders while also helping locals with learning or working from home and accessing essential telehealth appointments.”
