The new normal of workplace communications 

Is it true that remote workers are more productive than office workers? In addressing these questions, “What you need to know about work-from-home productivity,” Gleb Tsipursky told us that leaders of hybrid and fully remote teams benefit significantly in productivity if they abandon office-centric values and practises.  

Likewise, in another piece called “Elon Musk’s Forced Return-to-Office Policy Might Harm Tesla,” Tsipursky said that opposition to hybrid and remote work, like Elon Musk’s ultimata in his companies, threatens success since workers may choose more freedom and independence.  

On the other hand, Tsipursky, stressed that leaders should use emotional and social intelligence to handle their staff’s concerns. Tsipursky said that to better match their corporate culture with emotional drivers, businesses must consider implementing tactics grounded in research in “How to Defeat the Empathy Gap.” 

 

Getting better at connecting with prospects 

Tsipursky said in “The Best Ways to Get Constructive Feedback” regarding stakeholder engagements that the easiest way to keep everyone on the same page is to solicit regular, useful feedback from your stakeholders. He discussed how implementing effective strategies for actively. He also highlighted the importance of passively gathering feedback to reach our goal and facilitating better communication which results to increased participation from all relevant parties.

In “Communicating with Prospective Clients,” Marty Nemko opined that in addition to being the charitable and ethical thing to do, a detailed written response to a query might increase the likelihood that a suitable prospective customer will choose to work with us. Nemko stressed that in order to communicate effectively with potential customers, it is worthwhile to take the time to develop such a response. 

In a unique line of thinking in “Why Australian businesses should lift their name game,” Fiona Price underscored the importance of understanding culturally diverse names in providing Australian companies a competitive edge. It may sound a very petty thing for everyone but according to this article, having a name that no one can pronounce is a major setback when trying to develop professional and social ties in a foreign culture. 

Communicating better on a daily basis 

Although our focus is helping the communications industry and its professionals, learning how to improve in communicating outside the office is just as important. After all, communication is at the heart of every human relation.  

In “Love and the Communication Myth,” Steven Stosny explored the question of which between communication or connection comes first. Stosny likewise said that values-based communication is more effective than fact-based communication at bringing people together.  

Meanwhile, Ariadne Calvo-Platero, in “4 Ways to Improve Your Everyday Communication” said that content, language, delivery, and timing are the four pillars of effective communication. Calvo-Platero gave us her tip of using a “soft start-up,” in which globalisation, criticism and blame are avoided, when entering into delicate dialogues. 

In “How Decoding Body Language can Improve Your Life,” Nick Morgan argued that improving our ability to read and use body language can enhance our ability to convey meaning in our interactions. Morgan also explained how taking the time to mirror the other person’s body language is a quick method to become more connected with them. 

The new normal has given us a hard time adjusting communications-wise but with relevant expert opinions, bridging these gaps is way easier and there would be no room for second-guesses as these specialists have years of experience to back their ideas.
