A total of 14 entries by business communication professionals in Australia have been recognised with Awards of Excellence at the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Asia Pacific Region’s 2022 Silver Quill Awards.

The Silver Quill Awards honour the outstanding work of communication professionals from across the Asia Pacific region for exhibiting strategic understanding, inventive problem-solving, and artistic abilities that produce substantial consequences.

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) for TIO Radio; Aurecon for its entry “Connecting Strategy to Growths:  Blueprint to 2023”; the Woolworths Group for its works on the “New Era of Woolworths” and “Peopleporium 2021: Welcome to People.town!”; the NSW Public Service Commission (PSC) for its website transformation; and Optus for “TGIF (Thank God It’s Friday)” all took home awards of excellence in the internal communication category.

The NSW PSC’s Website Transformation Project also got the award in the Communication for the Web Category.

CBGU D&C Joint Venture bagged the Community Relations award for “10,900 Ways to Build Social License” while the REA Group took the Leadership Communications award for its “REAL Leadership.”

The Centre for Strategic Communication Excellence won in the Communication Training and Education category for its work on “Leadership Communication for Frontline Managers”.

The Centre, for its “Reaching the Frontline Benchmarking Research Report”, along with Pesel & Carr, for its “WBF Annual Report – Going Digital,” also grabbed the awards for the publications category.

The Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment and PwC’s The Difference for their “Being Future Ready” piece nabbed the award in the Employee Engagement Category.

Ellis Jones, who was the lone Australian individual awardee, was acknowledged in the Governmental Communication Category for her Disability Worker Regulation Scheme Public Awareness Campaign.

The IABC Asia Pacific Silver Quill Awards are given to all Gold Quill entries from the Asia Pacific region scoring at least 5.12 and receiving an Award of Merit. Entries receiving 5.25 and higher are given an Award of Excellence.

The winning submissions for the IABC’s 2022 Gold Quill Awards, were judged by seasoned communication professionals from around the world using a strict set of criteria to determine whether they met the IABC’s 7-Point Global Scale of Excellence. A 2022 Silver Quill Award certificate will be given to every winner.

Meanwhile, Philippines took seven out of the twenty-three Awards of Excellence given.

ABS-CBN Corporation’s “Act As If You Have the Virus: Strengthening COVID-19 Awareness Among ABS-CBN Employees” won in the Communication for the Web Category.

The broadcasting corporation’s “Kapamilya Himig Handog: Discovering Talents, Fulfilling Dreams, Creating Positive Employee Experience” also got the award in the Special and Experiential Events Category.

The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Manila’s student entry titled “Turtales: Telling the Tales of Endangered Marine Turtles” secured the Audio/Visual Category award for the Philippines.

The University of the Philippines also earned the COVID-19 Response & Recovery Management and Communication category award for “Stop COVID Deaths Webinar: Communicating Management and Treatment of COVID-19 in the Philippines.”

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) obtained the awards in the Publications and Social Media categories for its “Meralco’s 2020 Corporate Reports” and “Meralco Corporate Partners Viber Community: Engagement When Connectivity is a Must” respectively.

Another Social Media Category winner is the Megaworld Foundation Inc. for  its entry “Mega Summer Ventures Version 2.0.”

In April, Carlos “Charlie” Agatep, Chairman and CEO of Grupo Agatep Philippines, was named the 2022 Communicator of the Year for the executive leader category.

On another hand, India’s Tata Consumer Products for its Corporate Website and Walmart Global Tech India for its Converge @ Walmart took Awards of Excellence in the Communication for the Web and Special and Experiential Events categories.

Aniisu Verghese, an internal communications leader, author, speaker, trainer, and blogger, also secured the 2022 Communicator of the Year award  in the Senior Communication professional category.
